7'11" Mag-Heavy Fast
Ln: 17-25lb (50-80lb Braid) Lr: 1/2-2oz
The New Mag-Hitter 2.0 is Alpha's solution to heavy cover bass fishing. Upgraded in every way, the new Mag is 30% lighter than the original with greater balance. The Alpha Prostaff designed the parabolic taper of this Toray, high modulus blank, to drastically increase landing percentage with braid and heavy flipping weights. Flip with increased accuracy from our new, low drag, SS316, guide train and feel every bite.
Flipping Rod Blank: A high modulus, Toray graphite, 7'11" Mag-Heavy blank is the heart of our upgraded flipper. Since the advent of braid and heavy flipping weights, landing fish in heavy cover has been complicated. Most landing issues are created by the hookset, which drags the hook through their mouths instead penetrating where the hook point first contacts. To fix this issue, the Mag-Hitter incorporates a precisely engineered parabolic taper, that provides an even pressure and drives the hook permanently. Make no mistake though, once hooked the Mag-Hitter will drag fish from the nastiest cover with a mag-heavy attitude.
Flipping Rod Components: To ensure ultimate performance, the Alpha Mag-Hitter is equipped with the new SS316 Semi-Micro, low drag, guides for efficient casting and retrieving. The semi-micro guides are sized to allow braid to flouro knots to pass with minimal interruption. The "go-to" Fuji ECSM reel seat has been the favorite with anglers due its comfortable fit and rod control. And finally, the Mag-Hitter is finished off with our new custom milled aluminum butt-cap.
Design Philosophy: No matter what technology is available, there will always be big bass in heavy cover. The only way to find them is to fish for them, usually for long periods of time. To redesign the Mag-Hitter, our team focused on the elimination of fatigue associated with big flipping weights, and to increase landing percentages in heavy cover. Balance, sensitivity and action were critiqued in every prototype, until our test anglers experienced higher landing percentages, enhanced bite detection, and eventually... bigger tournament bags.
